In the 1970ʻs and early 80ʻs several organized swims were being held independently at the North Shore. Beginning in 1989, these swims evolved into a cohesive series and the North Shore Swim Series was born!
Within just a few years the series became a community favorite for those looking to experience unique open water swim races in a variety of distances and locations along Oahu’s fabled North Shore.
“The North Shore Swim Series is like no other swim event in Hawaii,” – Chris Gardner, Race Director-. “We offer picturesque swims that include iconic venues like Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, Pipeline and Chun’s Reef. Swimmers of all ages and abilities come out to participate and we look to provide the best experience possible for everyone.”
With over three decades of ocean swimming in its history, the North Shore Swim Series is pleased to offer 4 swim races over the course of the summer. Each swim showcases its own venue and race distance, starting with a ‘Summer Sprint’ one mile course at Sunset Beach and increasing the distance on each race finishing with a 2.3 mile swim ‘Challenge’ across several points of the “7 mire miracle”.
